The brown moth. The ubiquitous damned brown mealy moth. They shall inherit the earth.

The larval stage is my favorite stage of their insectful little lives. Those pale yellow little winkie worms that make their way up the wall of the pantry in search of a surface to hang onto to weave their metamorphic cocoon. I find that these little moths can exploit the tiniest holes in plastic packaging to insert their spawn where once they had previously been excluded by the manufacturer. Nothing quite as exciting as to see fully grown moths flapping about in an unopened bag of cornmeal. It is somewhat akin to building ships in bottles, I think.
