You NEVER used soap on those iron frypans. There was always supposed to be a film of grease --it was called-I remember this!--seasoning the pan. You just rinsed it out and got the big pieces of stuff off.

Ammo feels sorry for the moths- it bothers him that they live their entire life cycle in a pantry. In a box of cereal. I told him they have rich interior lives, that he can't even begin to imagine the elaborate fantasies they weave as they attach themselves to his shredded wheat.

Ammo rescues swarmed termites from the pool in the spring. He tells Blue he's sweet when we say he smells. He tries to keep the dying abused fieldmice that Blue deposits around the house alive.

He doesn't think much of people though.
