The myth here is that the frame rate is *continuous*. Because you get 30fps out of it for 10 seconds doesn't mean you get 30fps consistently and until enternity. The benefit of higher frame-rates is that - especially in multiplayer - you have a lot more room to drop frames before you get jerky game-play.

It's like saying there's no benefit to a car that goes over 65mph since that's all you need to keep up.
