LR, RE: In 5 days, MSFT has lost approx. 16 points. Why?

Well, MSFT is trading @about 50x earnings. It's probably lots
of bad news coming home to roost at once.

o NT5 is late & iffy
o Linux is a potential O/S market-breaker
o DOJ Anti-Trust lawsuit
o SUNW Java contract lawsuit
o Caldera lawsuit
o other lawsuits
o Windows 98 is not a blockbuster
o Web-TV didn't pan out
o Competition from Java is becoming a reality
o Thin-client competition looming on the horizon
o Bad publicity is hurting the brand
o Now, everytime they try to screw someone on a contract, it's public
o Competition from Netware 5
o Competition in backoffice applications servers
o Downward pricing pressure on PCs is cutting margins
o Competition from Netscape portal business
o MSN is a bust
o Slate is a bust

However, looking on the bright side, there is MSFT coffee
being sold at Borders Books & their on-line travel & auto sales
businesses.

cheers,

cherylw
