Arnie-- if there are problems bring 'em on. This list seems to be the place to discuss them and get some closure. Dr. Retiarius will tell you about every relevant patent ever filed. Tom Hoff will have called every competing manufacturer on every continent by this time tomorrow. The more data the better. This is the place to get those problems aired. And don't worry about the effect on ECD--- they only have 5 more points to fall. My margin clerk would love your concern though.

OK, so what were the battery problems? What was the failure mode? When were they purchased? From where? How had they been stored? Were they used vertically/horizontally/upside down? Was it an AA? or a D cell [oops, only a few manufacturers make those]? What were the charge rates? What were the discharge rates? What was the charge termination: Delta V, Delta T, Time, somehting more sexy? What was the ambient temperature under charge? How about discharge? What was the closure, Radial? How much capacity 1000maH? 1200 maH? Are you sure of the manufacturer or was it a "packed" cell? I'm personally quite interested in the separator material, Freudenberg? Was this Ovonic's positive electrode? Their negative? had the battery completely vented or were you able to ascertain the electrolyte concentration? Was it stone dead, or did it have a voltage before it was dissected? Who did the dissection and how? How'd the electrodes and case and separator look under an electron microscope?

Do tell. We can take it. This group has heard far worse.
