Yep. You'll never get the demand management types to accept that. They have no faith in people or the system they are trying to protect. They end up creating the conditions which they want to avoid by their pretense to knowledge. They believe there's always a reason to break from principle and let their fears rule. It took ten years of erring on the side of restraint to undo the structural inflation. Now they are unwittingly throwing all that away for a "good" reason. Who is leading the parade? Greenspan.

Sometime I'll tell you about his gradual conversion from a radical conservative to a cautious liberal. That happens with success and government employment. That's why Miltie never wanted to be FED Chairman. There's no way he would be converted and Congress and the Washington socialists would have had to get rid of him. They can't tolerate any discipline regardless of the good economic times it would bring. When they love you in Washington as they do Greenspan, you know he is under their spell. It is the mind set that we who are in power must do something to save the weak from the evil corporations. They don't think that they think that way, but when you're the emperor, you don't need to see your clothes. And caring keeps your nose in the air.
