Re: DJIA - you know that there are lots of institutional portfolio managers who have to be fully invested cause asset allocation is made at different (higher) level. Yet they can get into what they perceive to be safer stocks, e.g. those that were around longer than since 1990 or even 1986. Those stocks will drop too, but they're the last to drop. If they were obviously overvalued in July, they have already dropped to a more reasonable valuation by now ...

No conspiracy needed.
