I see this acquisition as great news. Red Brick has gained a lot of good clients and a solid technical reputation in the market, despite not executing well corporately- probably because of lots of competitive pressure from Oracle, Informix and Teradata. Analysts recognise that RedBrick was the innovator in Data Warehousing for many years- but they had problems with scalability. The combined technologies will add up to a powerful capability. This will not only open doors for Informix, but more importantly will make a bit of a splash in the market and signal that Informix is no longer dead in the water. jmomj
