Clarence,

The DEC chip has native NT support, and generally plays nicely with NT systems. The 3com NIC does also, and has great support. (I also own a 3com NIC.) It just so happens that I'd had good luck with a DEC NIC from www.netlux.com, which sold such a card under their brand name for about $35 (back when 3com cards were over $100.) Now, with OEM 3com cards available for < $60, the a buyer that isn't too price sensitive probably wants to go 3com. But for students/part time workers like me, the netlux card, which I inherited from another machine, has always done the job nicely.

Good luck with your construction. Let me know if I can be of other assistance.

Dave
