A few weeks ago someone on this thread recommended a software package from www.atguard.com. The software prevents the web browser from requesting many commercial ads. They have a free 30 day trial of their software. I have been using it for a couple of weeks. Works like a champ. I checked out www.yahoo.com and the @guard software killed all the ads (the page also loads faster). Personally, I find the ads a nuisance. I have never intentionally clicked on an ad in the 5+ years that I have used the net. Most net users need all the quality bandwidth they can get. For those of us residential users in remote areas that are not privileged to have ASDL or cable modem access this is a big problem.
