Ron,

The big spread between the $1.10 per LoC (line of code) and the $0.20 is that the higher figure includes more work.

Simplistically there are four steps in a conversion effort like Y2K: (1) planning - 33%
(2) remediation/fixing code - 17%
(3) unit test - 25%
(4) system test - 25%

The $1.10/LoC figure would hopefully include all four steps. The $0.20/LoC figure is only for step 2.

Rather like the difference of getting a quote of $1200 to repair a car's transmission when the car is out in the parking lot. You bring the transmission in & drop it on the floor & the price to actually do the repair work is maybe $200. But there's lots of other work before you can actually touch the transmission.

Sorry bud but the $.20 was for the whole enchilada. SITL has been busted or else Mr. Stewarts hype has been.
