The issue of who may want to jum in while it is cheap... Allow me a French look at it. And what was proposed to me as a possible scenario... For various reasons I hope that things won't turn out that way, but it may at least have the potential to provide a new core shareholder. Alcatel entered the military inductry through purchase of 30% of Thomson. It partnered with Dassault and Aerospatiale in the venture. Alcatel also expected to merge its satellites with Aerospatiale. Matra Marconi wil merge with AeroS instead. It seems that the block building has not finished. While Alcatel is too big for a takeover by any of those, Dassault could probably, through Family holding take a significant share. It would not do any harm, and as Alcatel becomes influential in Military electronics, bing s large shareholder of Alcatel may not be a bad idea. Far fetched? Possibly. I hope. But, not impossible. Just 'speculation' anyhow...
