D - a market order is supposed to be executed by computer at the current listed price. However, if the option volume on DAL was low, it may take a while, but not 9 minutes. Give Discover a call and ask them. I'm not short CSCO or LU. But is eyeing DELL though, despite the fact that new computer I'm using now is pretty decent after all. Can't blame it on them for the many crashes I already experienced. Got to blame MSFT.

Gold's rise overnight is not spectacular despite the $ plunge. And this morning nothing was mentioned about gold being the safe asset in time of crisis by both CNBC and CNN. Gold is still being written off. I take this as either the beginning phase of belief in gold or the end phase of the gold run as the hedge fund unwinding is believed to be temporary. I'm inclined towards the 1st scenario. I don't think most of the street analysts have a clear thought on why things are the way they are today. They are confused as heck as they never saw this coming. BTW, the multinational consumer non-durables like CL and UN have been holding up very well in the last two days for exactly the reason of US$ plunging. They were punished hard when US$ was strong. Now is just the opposite. However, a global recession will reduce their overall sales volume (not revenue), a key industry indicator for this group. Currency conversion is secondary. Selling goods comes first. You've got time on the CL put right?

Glad we have LT on board. Fleckenstein is another one who saw this coming. With the S&P below 10 now, I think the market will open low but rally up several times today. The Brazilian announcement will provide some kick but it won't last as the market begin to shift its focus to something else.

OSX - they are well in the second collapse phase of yet another W alright. No end in sight. The motto on the street has been to take losses on the trashest stocks in one's holding. Guess which stocks get doubly trashed as the year winds down and tax loss selling become a must-do?

Heyward - how have you been? As you can see we are having a gangbuster time here on this thread. Weeeeeee!
