Yes, you are correct, many churches of Christ are exactly as you say, but I do want you to know there are MANY fine independant congregations that are not preaching exclusion just for exclusion's sake. We have all heard the stories of how church members have treated what they consider "outsiders " to the kingdom, and most of the time it is not pretty.
I am attending a congregation that has been """disfellowshipped""" by many of the conservative churches, because we have chosen to "fellowship" with others. There are many changes. AND....let me tell you Barney, it is not easy. When you have parents(which we do) that are in these conservative congregations, it is a constant sore spot with them, and I hate that. To me that is just satan at his best separating people. Causing strife.
Should you ever(any of you) have reason to be in Midland, Texas, I would welcome you to come and assemble corporately with us at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ.The deceiver has attacked this fine bunch of people unmercifully in the last few years, and I count it as a blessing that he would be worried about them.
OK ,enough about that. I want you to know I also know many fine people in even the conservative congregations, and I also count THEM as part of the brotherhood of Christ's Church and I love them also. Even SAM I am's own son in law is a minister in the Lord's Church and I am sure that drives Sam I am nutty!!! :o)
