<< Just for the record, assuming Clinton had done something truly serious, such as used the IRS or the FBI to intimidate his opponents (as he is accused of), or had committed a serious crime such as rape, would you favor his removal? >> It all depends upon how serious the crime was. If Clinton was guilty of rape or other high crimes, we wouldn't have to go thru the impeachment process. He would resign. The impeachment process is long and very disruptive. Clinton has two years left in his term. I think that a long, drawn out two year impeachment fight would do tremendous damage to this country, and to the world. Speaking of the world. What is more important to focus on right now, removing a President from office because of a sexual affair and an attempt to cover it up, or the world economic meltdown? How about you? Do you want this nation rocked by two years of political infighting. It's going to get very nasty. And, for those who don't think that it will last two years (unless Clinton resigns), when it gets into the Senate, it gets into litigation. And....... litigation, especially over constitutional issues, will take forever! Regards, Bob |
