AMD is realizing why Intel's Slot 1, Slot 2 and Mendocino solutions are the right ones - and why sticking with Socket 7 is a real hindrance, especially since Sharpy chip is delayed.

Paul,

Get serious. Both Intel and AMD have figured out that the L2 cache belongs on the same silicon with the CPU. The external bus architecture is becoming decreasingly important as larger caches move onboard.

A few months ago Intel was claiming that socket 7 would be dead by the end of the year. Based on the sales of K6's, one would have to conclude that the reports of Socket 7's demise have been grossly exaggerated.
