Jubimer,

I have long appreciated your posts on this thread. They have been well researched, thought out, and ....optimistic.

I hope you are correct that Micronet was a good opportunistic acquisition. I absolutely agree that they address a high growth area. I am a shareholder of NTAP which is a key player in network attached storage, and view the opportunities in this area over the next few years as huge. NTAP has managed to grow in excess of 50% per year over the last few years and appear to be on track to have another great year - stock market gyrations not withstanding. ASPX on the other hand was a leader and Wall Street darling in this area not so many years ago. They have lost money and market share over the years as a result of poor product choices and poor execution - in short bad management. The question in my mind is do Ampex and Micronet management have what it takes to take advantage of the opportunity before them? Will Micronet continue along the path of an ASPX, or will they blossom into a NTAP??

>> I think people need to reflect on what a tremendous opportunity it now is to have cash to make acquisitions. Thank God they didn't blow their wad too soon this year as a number of armchair quarterbacks have been whining about. It was right to pay the interest and wait for the environment to come your way. <<

You are correct that this is a great opportunity ( and it may get better ..). The question is was Ed brilliant enough to anticipate the opportunity and wait, or did he just get lucky by moving slowly? My own opinion is that he was just moving at a pace he was comfortable with, and circumstances simply turned in such a way as to make him look very savvy. IMHO the jury is still out on how well Ampex comes out of this.

Obviously, I hope they invest wisely and pull out of the "Honey, I Shrunk the Company" syndrome explosively.

Staying put for now ...
