I'm still looking for a level 2 dump for today. Unfortunately, I can't afford $500 a year for a level 2 feed just yet, so have to hope for the charity of others :)
I'm trying to form a correlation between short-selling by various market makers over the past few weeks, followed by coverage, and vice versa. I'm suspecting a pattern based on trade size, but without the MM names, it's hard to prove. I've written a program to analyze the data, and try to classify each mm/brokerage as a an accumulator, day trader, instituational, etc, and maintain stats for them. In order to do this, I need historical level 2 data for 3dfx. This data can also be used to confirm dumping as a means of manipulating the price.
There are a couple of transactions today that make me think that the same group of people is manipulating the stock. I just don't have proof yet.
Sadly, it's very easy to time buys and sells to trigger asks, and bids, posted throughout the day, and to influence public sentiment. Such schemes can generate alot of quick cash in a volatile, heavily traded stock like 3dfx. I'm not sure if doing this is illegal... does anyone here know the legality of such scams? |
