For the record, gold stocks moved opposite other stocks in the
1929 crash, but cratered with other stocks in the 1987 swoon. In
1929, gold stocks were very low compared to the rest of the
market; in 1987, they had soared in value with the rest of the
stock market.


It should be pointed out that in '87, gold stocks didn't fall
on Black Friday, but a couple of days later, as margin calls
went out on fallen stocks on the major markets.People had good
profits on their gold stocks thus that was what was sold to
meet the calls. Of course with forced liquidation and few buyers
they were then hit HARD.
