Brian, Out of the four responses I received to my questions, I chose to respond to yours because it was the most unique. First of all, if you paid $250 to express your opinion, you have already been ripped off. (Unless SI raised the rate and I just didn't know it).
I don't think you are going to ingratiate yourself to anyone here by calling people fools. By virtue of their presence here, they already qualify as "smarter than the average American", scarey as it may seem at times.
Don't get me wrong, I am not disagreeing with what you are saying, but your delivery of your message needs serious help.
I personally have become more and more disgusted with the OTC, SI, and internet trading in general. All of the characteristics I abhor in people are here. People will lie, cheat, and steal. Companies will lie cheat and steal, and because of whatever reason, the SEC has very little control over it. The fraud is unbelievebly blatant.
If you have ever done something in your life that has turned out to be a bad experience, once it is overcome, in hindsight you can see where you would have acted differently. But the fact remains that if you didn't see it the first time, you cannot criticize someone else for not seeing it their first time either. The are no more "stupid" for falling for it than you were. It's called humility.
There is wisdom to be gained from experience, and it sounds like you have some of both. However, if you have ever raised a teenager you know that wisdom gained thru experience is probably the hardest type to convince someone else to accept. Human nature dictates that lessons are gained from experience, and people just have to learn for themselves sometimes. I would venture to say that at least one of the names we see posting on this thread as a fan of the company will likely, this time next year, be making what is perceived as negative posts on the stock, regardless of the stock price at that time. It is all a cycle.
These "guru" types play on human nature, with no remorse whatsoever. Why should they be remorseful..if they are ever caught, the penalties are so light they still make a profit, and it is all worth it. They play on all emotions...greed, anger, blame, friendship; nothing or no one is immune.
And people wonder why internet trading is considered the scum of the investing arenas.
