Roy, I had the same reaction. Sending e-mail is a virtually cost free step to add to a newsletter service. Fax may be more costly, but the price he is asking for e-mail is ridiculous (one of JD favorite words lately on his hotline when he is describing the current prices of "our great companies"). Ridiculous is a perfect word to describe the asking price for this upgrade in his service. I'll bet this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for a lot of subscribers.
