Sam,

The first time was on a flight from Chicago Midway to Orlando. I live down in Orlando but go to school up in Chicago. Anyways. The plane was about 15 minutes late leaving and we had the stop in St. Louis. We had a 25 minute turnaround which I think is very good because Delta took almost 35 minutes to do that when I was flying them. After that they did make up sometime and we arrived in Orlando 10 minutes late. The plane was full.

Next was just on Friday when I flew up from Orlando to Nashville to do some business. We took off 10 minutes late and arrived 10 minutes late though the employees were very nice and took care of everything. I did see the person that took the tickets helping do some stuff on the plane to get it ready. The plane was not crowded and I think that it had maybe only 105 people on it.

Hopefully, these were only isolated occurances or it is a industry wide symptom. I will be flying out of Nashville on Sunday, Jan. 5th and going to Chicago. I will tell you then if we take off or arrive on time. Keep me abreast of what your friends are saying out in California. How long did they say the lateness was?? Was it only 15 minutes or 30 minutes or just a few minutes?? Just wondering.

As for discounting, I don't see people following Southwest's lead and discounting, I think that they have basically just said "Southwest is going to do what they are going to do and we will allow them." I don't hear alot of other airlines announcing they are going to cut their prices to $29 on certain flights. Also, I think with costs rising going up at Southwest, then they need to focus on containing these before they continue to discount. The 4th Quarter is almost up and hopefully, the load factor for Dec. will continue to move up and we will get a mild suprise from the announcement made previously.

Bryan
