Sorry, I have to work for a living :-( ...

I am not a doomsayer nor a pollyanna. Having ten years experience in firmware/embedded systems (mostly manufacturing-related) and ten years in databases and IT gives me a relatively unique perspective on the situation.

The problem is very real. The folks who know the systems best are the most worried - and many (like me) have no profit motive whatsoever in expressing worry. The most accurate quote I've read (from the software professional's standpoint) is, "If you sleep at night, you don't understand the problem." Another good quote is, "When the pilot emerges from the cockpit wearing a parachute, it's time to worry." These are both apt.

Sorry kid, I think I agree with the Senator Bill Bennetts, the Alan Greenspans, the Ed Yardenis, etc. They know the problem is real. And, no offense, but I'll take their opinion over yours any day.

p.s., Instead of arguing individual points or trading URLs, try rebutting Yardeni's Netbook or miamionthenet.com ... I'll be waiting.
