JDS Intrinsic Value

I am a brand new investor on JDS stock having bought in today at $13.45 where it hovered for the longest time. What I like about the stock is:

(1) the sector it is in, fiberoptics seems to be the way to go given the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth especially as we extend the infrastructure down to the consumer level in the years to come; even at 30% growth for 5 years the current valuations are excellent;

(2) debt-free, a big plus in these times where cash can go into acquisitions and R&D. Also JDS has more than enough cash to handle current liabilities;

(3) not that many analysts follow the stock yet, making it still relatively unknown compared to INTC, MSFT, IBM, SUNW, etc;

(4) its intrinsic value which I calculate to be between $33 - $37 using growth rates of 25% - 30%.

Oh, the recent stock price makes it a bargain. I plan on holding JDS for the long-term (with prudent re-evaluations periodically).

Regards,

stephen
