Is the diversification of the 3D card market a good thing or a bad thing?

I think that early on, during the first couple of generations, there were some bad designs, like having too much power. Now, everyone has kinda settled down; everyone understands what's necessary. I won't name any particular names, but I wouldn't be sad if a couple more 3D card companies vanished off the face of the earth. It would make everyone's life easier, because now that most of the majors are doing things right, I don't think there's nearly as much push for radically different innovations from the other companies.


Ummm. Too much power? No need for innovation? Could somebody explain this?
