SGI International Opens Denver Marketing Office
PR Newswire - October 09, 1998 05:15

LA JOLLA, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SGI International (OTC Bulletin Board: SGII) announced today that, in accordance with the terms and conditions contained in its Letter of Intent with Mitsubishi Corporation, it has opened an office in Denver, Colorado to market Liquids From Coal ("LFC") products and to develop LFC projects in the United States. The LFC technology is a patented process which upgrades low-rank coal and produces coal liquids ("CDL") that contain valuable hydrocarbon chemicals.

Mr. John W. Hart will manage SIG's Denver office and market LFC products and projects to utilities, chemical companies, coal companies and transportation companies. Hart is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, and has over 20 years of experience in the coal industry. For the last ten years he was manager of sales for ARCO Coal Company. Hart stated: "I believe that the LFC Technology produces the right products at the right time to meet the Clean Air Act and other environmental regulations, and represents an excellent opportunity to develop markets for new upgraded coal products that result in reduced sulfur, nitrous oxide, and CO2 emissions. These upgraded coal products should greatly assist utilities and other customers in meeting the air quality and global warming concerns facing the United States."

Joseph A. Savoca, Chairman/CEO of SGI, stated: "John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the coal and utility industries and will be a welcome addition to our team as we form a new company with Mitsubishi."

SGI International's core business is developing, commercializing and licensing new energy technologies. Its corporate headquarters are in La Jolla, California.
