I suspect you may be right, Dan. There are a lot of things on RNTK's table which should be coming to fruition. Got the following from a friend regarding the TX/Venezuelan connection. Haven't seen it yet on the thread--note final investments must be made by January...I wonder if this had something to do with the timing of the deal.

>>Venezuela. In the Hamaca region offshore Venezuala in the Orinoco Oil Belt, Phillips holds a 20 percent interest in a $3.5 billion quest for oil. Last month, the project was said to be delayed because of difficulties among the partners in getting loans for the venture due to turmoil in global financial markets. Joining Phillips in the venture are Atlantic Richfield Co. (ARCO) (NYSE:ARC - news), Texaco Inc. (NYSE:TX - news) and Venezuela's state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). They have until January to make final investments in the 35-year deal that seeks to pump 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) of extra-heavy crude oil and upgrade it into synthetic oil. First oil is expecte to flow in 2000, Hamaca officials say. The Phillips unit in Venezuela is called Phillips Petroleum Co. Venezuela Ltd.<<
