But how much CSCO hardware can you buy ? Whereas people are being FORCED to buy new PC's for 2 reasons; 1) Y2K, and 2) New software REQUIRES you to buy a FASTER PC to handle the latest version of their software. My company bought a software package from a company i will call 'A'. A BIG company, i will call them 'HAL', came in and bought 'A', and a year later, the latest release from company 'A', now owned by 'HAL', requires us to run it on a 266 minimum. and what will the next release require ?? There are a TON of businesses out there still running WIN 3.1 on a 486, they will be forced to buy new stuff real soon....... CSCO versus DELL: it's kinda like if you buy a new car today, you take care of it and you don't need another one for 8-10 years. Sure, you can upgrade your CSCO stuff, but nowhere near as quickly as you will be needing to upgrade your PC's......... and yes, there is a larger profit margin on the routers, but it is VERY negotiable. The stuff we just bought we negotiated down 80% from the original price quote.
