but what about the fact that xyln switches are embedded with the qudt software?
Does LU buy a company apart from xyln and start screwing around with fitting the
qudt goods say, with a COMS product? also consider what happens to the strategic
agrement between xyln and qudt if LU won't buy xyln or use their switches....you
can't just back out of a contract(presumably) It seems to me that LU would at least
form a strategic partnership with xyln so they can contine to have a complete qudt
product to sell. Do they have the luxury to do otherwise?

Integrating DHCP software into a hub-switch is pretty easy to do. This does not represent a lot of R&D investment--just a lot of testing which you can easily contract a lot of know-nothing "consultants" to do.

But perhaps, you may be right. COMS probably has their own DHCP software, and may already have integrated it into their switches. If that's the case, why would Lucent need Quadritek if they intended to pick up COMS?

Well, I don't know. Perhaps you're right. If anything, the Quadritek purchase indicates that Lucent does NOT intend to buy COMS. But I think most of us knew that already. I don't know what it means about Xylan.
