Barb, Thanks for the detailed reply. Your experience with Waterhouse mirrors mine exactly. They do indeed seem to get an limit order executed promptly once it his the bid/ask, and they are quite poor about reporting it.

While I don't like the delay, I understand it can be difficult to avoid. What I can't understand, FWIW, is why they'll give you innaccurate confirmations in webbroker. Ah well.

Until next week, my problem has been since my c. 1904 apartment can't handle a second phone line, I have to choose between waiting on hold for x minutes, or keeping net access. The DSL line I get Tuesday (finally available here in Spokane, but no cable modems yet) should solve this problem.

BTW, I've appreciated many of your SI posts, and would be very interested in what finally led you to dump Datek, especially since my experience with them has been relatively good. Feel free to direct me to other posts if you've already covered this.
