Ray --

I'm fairly certain Amati has no connection to MOT's or NEC's cable modem technologies. I remember asking RC the same question months ago. I did find confirmation of the two additional GTE trials JS mentioned at the meeting. This is from GTE's web page:

<<<GTE is actively testing how the ultra high-speed modem technology of Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) -- up to 100 times faster than today's 28.8 kbps modem -- will mutually benefit Internet Service Providers, multi-media content providers and Internet surfers. GTE launched the nation's first data ADSL trial in February in Texas, and just expanded its Redmond, Wash., trial involving Microsoft Corp. ****By year-end, GTE plans to announce two additional major trials that will continue into the second quarter of 1997.**** >>>

I'd say we're at "year end", wouldn't you? We sure could use some positive press, such as, "GTE is pleased to announce it has chosen Amati Communications' Overture 8 ADSL/DMT modems for an expanded trial in. . . . As a result of its recently completed Redmond, WA trial, and the enormous demand for expanded availability, the new trials will include twice as many participants. . ."

Think they need a publicist? (I *do* think Flynn Nogueira needs to edit what goes out under her name.)

Here's to a fantastic 1997!

Cheers!

Pat
