In reply to your post #83 of 10/7:

1.Your Point:. "Is the fund rule that funds must 'close their books' by end of October) ? A. I think so; but I would invite confirmation of this from someone more knowledgeable than me.

2. Your Point: "Sellers are getting tired...(I) bet most funds have
already unloaded." A. I agree but am suspicious and not convinced all selling is over. To buy calls now could violate the rule which is called both "not fighting the tape" and not betting against the trend. Also, the price seems to be stuck around $17.00. It seems there is steady selling pressure met by some steady buying. I don't know.

(Does anyone know if Alcatel has already begun their recently announced buyback? If so, perhaps Alcatel is "defending" the stock around $17.00/share.)

(I am also concerned about the tax selling of individuals and some other entities...which can be accomplished until end of December.)

In a nutshell, I want to buy calls but I don't want to be a schmuck.

3. Your Point: "..larger concerns are Global economies, etc."
A. I agree. But I am admittedly focusing on some market issues that could effect the stock's behaviour in the shorter run (until end of 1998.)

Thanks.
Walter C.
