Tony, >>>Intel talked only about revenues (looking to be around 8 to 10% higher than expectations), not profits. <<<

Somehow, I think there is more informal communications between Intel and the analyst community than appears on the surface. My guess is that Barrett is working on better communications. If the estimates were off, they (the analyst community) would somehow know about it.

I don't think Andy Grove was very good at communicating beyond poking his finger into someones chest (figuratively speaking). Craig Barrett is probably much more sophisticated in this regard - but then again - he is a trained metallurgist - there is not much heuristics in that either.

>>>Will this guy use his "guru" (undeserved) status again and trash Intel? <<<

What is that saying about dollars to donuts? Kurlak will ride on Ralph's bear market call to greater glory - that along with his negative spin will put a ceiling on how high Intel will move.

In any case, I don't think Intel is looking for a one time goose of earnings that couldn't be sustained (whereas Sanders would). Most of Barrett's moves will be directed toward accellerating long term growth and this is a good time for him to do a lot of consolidation.
