Ray - I see common sense is catching, but I can't see every turn of the events. I do the best with the information I research.
>>? However I do have a Question for you, thought you would be the one who would know, -------- Have any idea the cost per MEG for the phone co. or provider ? I saw the cost for isdn @ $16.00 MEG & cable 16 cents I think.<<
Ray - I'll say right off, I have know Idea what these charges for the Various Bandwidth services will run, at 2MBps speed we may have unlimited access for a nominal fee.
After that it will be up to the Market to determine.
With DMT rate adaptive increasing in small increments no telling what we will pay.
With Companies like Cisco which has introduced new switching technology that would reduce Internet congestion, and boosting data security while opening the door to ISP's to replace flat fees and graduated rates for normal and high-priority rates theres no telling what we might pay. The concept of IP scaling, radically (love that word) simplifies moving data through the Internet because it reduces the amount of forwarding-and-control data that must be maintained at the nets highest volume transfer points.
This innovation from Amati's friend Cisco arrives at the perfect point, as both end users and ISP's are starting to say hey wait a minute! Something needs to be done here, with these skyrocketing volumes of data. "Internet traffic is doubling every 6 months".
Cisco has submitted Tag Switching to the Internet Engineering Task force as standards for proposal, and plans on shipping the first half of 97.
Tag Switching works with a varity of Protocols, like IP, IPX.
Controlling the Granular speeds rates, rates a high priority. $$$
Implemented into the new Tag switching is Net-Flow technology, network layer switching, with salability, and manageability typical of connection-layer routing equipment. NetFLow enabled routers can distinguish between different types of traffic with out additional overhead switching. So HIGH Bandwidth video conferencing may pay it's way for data that way. NetFlow will also exploit advances in security capabilities of Cisco's Routers, which I recall the 80% figure referring to Cisco's Router market world wide.
What was the question again? :)
