Not entirely correct, as I remember the story from the news. It was a deep sea creature, and it died naturally in captivity, as has every other example of that particular animal. They don't deal well with being hauled up into the atmosphere from the high pressure areas they thrive in. However, what makes the story worse, is that they immediately went back to the same area and caught more hoping for a better result.
