Re: What is the difference between 24bit color and 32bit?

Nothing that _my_ eye can determine. People that are trying to create camera-ready copy using programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are much more into color accuracy since their ultimate output device (very high-res color printers) is very sensitive to color variations. 32bit color and neutral gamma settings are critical for those kind of applications. For everyone else it is kinda overkill.

Hardware-wise, in older generation boards there was a speed/resolution penalty for using the deepest bit-depth. That's no longer true (at least on my 400Mhz PII w/Banshee) so I'm using the 32bit setting. I don't know if there is still a performance issue for people with slower CPUs or not. There is an increase in memory usage but it's not significant unless you are low on memory already.
