As far as I can tell, AOL's earnings only matter to the extent that they reassure people that AOL is somehow "on track." The stock is certainly not priced based on the company's earnings but more on people's perception of its future position in the Internet universe. As long as earnings seem okay, people who trade this stock go back to building castles in the sky. If it were priced on earnings, it would be selling for at least half its current price.
