<<Music, dance, painting, and architecture (I believe this was my original set) predate written forms of art (literature, poetry,>>
Not sure I agree with that one. Literature is a direct outgrowth of storytelling, and the telling of tales - emotional, instructional, spiritual, entertaining, and otherwise - is surely one of the oldest art forms known to humans. I don't think writing it down changes much. While I do words for a living, I'm also reasonably well grounded in a number of other crafts (still don't think they become art until the person practicing them becomes an artist). And I would still maintain that the distinction you draw between the verbal and non-verbal exists mainly in your own perceptions.
My comment about George's point refers to the somewhat pretentious tone which occasionally, and probably unintentionally, finds its way into your posts. George reacts strongly to these things. He's called me pompous and autocratic (with some justification), so you're in good company. Assuming Alex's theorem to be correct, he just like you better.
