Vi, I think the stronger yen has helped Russian stocks,
at least as far as perception goes. Also, there is a chance that IMF money will be approved next week. The government also seems to be making progress on fixing some of the long lasting problems in Russia. There has been a shift in thinking that the U.S. is the place to make money. People are beginning to look at battered overseas markets.
Vi, is a market capitalization for a country's stock market usually close to GNP ?? Russia's market cap until today was about $8 billion. I am assuming GNP is still around $450 billion, maybe more if you count all the bartering. That would mean that Russian stocks are undervalued long term by an average of 50-100 times. Is that correct ??
