But can CPQ PROFITABLY execute a BTO model without disrupting their revenue stream. To do it quickly would take them 2-3 years and this rapid deployment would be very costly to both the top & bottom lines. At the end of the day, would they be near Dell ? They would be smarter to set their own course of being the master of channel sales and service. Trying to be everything to all people and follow Dell into BTO/direct could be a major strategic blunder. Ever heard of Wang ?
