If you want to mince words, which seems to be customary on this board, than I will clarify myself:

I bought 1000 SH. of INTC in June 1995 at 34.-

If I would sell it now, I would have a gain of $49,000.00.
That means "made money this year" as I see it. Is that so hard to understand?

An other example:

I bought CHEVRON 1000 SH. at 44 1/2 on June 1994, and sold 1000 SH. of CHEVRON August 1998 at 82 1/2. I had a realized profit of 38,000.00. I guess that should be pretty clear now.
