Closing Financial Futures Report for Friday, October 9, 1998

Debt futures ended sharply lower. Fundamentals had little to do
with today's dramatic sell-off in the Treasury market. Instead it
was fear of repatriation of funds into Japan and the unwinding of
positions that caused the Bond market to touch limit down levels
for the first time since March 8, 1996 when a huge gain in non-farm
payrolls spooked investors.
