PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1998-- HP's UNIX System Servers Set New Industry Benchmark for i2's Customer Ordering Solution Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that its HP 9000 V-Class Enterprise Servers have completed the first in a series of benchmarks with i2 Technologies.
This first benchmark result demonstrated a transaction time of 84.2 milliseconds per customer order in a complex high-tech industry model with i2 Technologies' RHYTHM Demand Fulfillment software using i2's 64-bit RHYTHM Supply Chain Planner planning engine running on HP-UX(1) 11. Unlike conventional Available-to-Promise solutions, i2's Demand Fulfillment solution on HP's state-of-the-art computing platforms provides real-time planning of complex assembly and multiline order coordination.
"HP and i2 can now offer businesses the first allocated ATP solution that obeys sophisticated business rules in real time, while greatly increasing the velocity of order fulfillment," said Greg Brady, president, i2 Technologies. "Such a rapid and accurate response greatly enhances customer service, leading to loyal customers and increased revenue."
The i2 Technologies RHYTHM Demand Fulfillment benchmark test was performed at HP's Development Alliances Lab in Cupertino, Calif., using HP's new high-end V-Class UNIX(R) system servers. HP achieved a performance of 11.9 customer transactions per second, which is a transaction rate of 84.2 milliseconds.
i2's RHYTHM Demand Fulfillment enforces several complex business rules when creating real-time order quotes. This includes exploding the bill of materials to consider time-phased availability of multiple components at multiple locations, including substitutions. RHYTHM Demand Fulfillment also considers multiple modes of transportation and other capacity constraints, creating a highly accurate, optimized fulfillment plan for each order.
"With i2's RHYTHM Demand Fulfillment, HP has set a new industry performance record for accurate order processing and response," said Nigel Ball, general manager of HP's Internet and Application Systems Division. "This new benchmark further reinforces HP's position as the leading provider of solutions for extended supply-chain management."
HP and i2 Technologies are working closely together to leverage the benefits of the HP-UX 11 64-bit operating environment, thus enabling the RHYTHM software suite to take full advantage of HP's 64-bit offering. HP is a primary UNIX system development platform for i2 and is the leading i2 platform provider for RHYTHM installations worldwide................... financial.washingtonpost.com |
