The drop in the utilities Friday was relatively small. One that I follow was up 50% YTD at its peak! Duke Power, generally considered to be "la creme de la creme", is up 30% YTD as of close Friday. I do not think that long bonds will hit 3%. I think if (some say when) Mr. G lowers rates, the long end very well may go up.
In Barron's this weekend, it was noted one can get risk free returns on 6 month CDs of 5.6%. That,to me, would seem to be powerful competition for those seeking a "safe haven", where yields have by and large diminished below the 30 year, not to mention risk free, FDIC insured short term CDs.
