Dan,

Thanks for your post. Some items:

I was convinced in your logic w/CPQ

I heard after the fact that CPQ had indeed seriously "kicked the tires," but had declined to invest in ASND. Something about infrastructure being a mess. Their loss. (And the infrastructure was, in fact, cleaned up.)

Isn't Lutz now with NN from CPQ?

Yep. Alan Lutz, formerly head of CPQ's networking division, is now CEO of Newbridge (though I believe Terry Matthews still calls the ultimate shots). Lutz has his connections to people in the US networking community, including people at Lucent. He is one reason that I am a shareholder of Newbridge. Hmmm, maybe Lutz quit CPQ when they wimped out on ASND?

I don't think enough has been said about what MR. Ejabat really desires from an aquiring company . . . not the money he wants a position of power

I'm not sure what Mory wants beyond a good price for ASND. Perhaps he does want power at a potential Lucend as you say. Regardless of what Mory wants, I do believe that Lucent -- and I'm only talking about Lucent -- won't overpay, and that there is more than one way to skin a technological cat (hate to say that as a vegetarian).
