John,
I don't know if the heart surgery used applies to all patients needing transplants or what percentage, or anything. You know how the networks embelish everything; they may have made it sound like most heart patients needing transplants could use this surgery, eliminating the need for a new heart, but it just may be a select few. Keep in mind that it is not approved by insurance cos. in U.S., etc. Also, the TMD units are for use with the left ventricle only. And the so-called Brazillian procedure may not come into play until the patient's heart is on it's last legs. It is also possible that these two procedures may actually be considered to be two entirely different fields! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than you and I on this subject can enlighten us.
