Mohan & All: Dell's ASP's...

I went through the Dell catalog for the months of July '98, Aug, Sept., and Oct. The catalog contains a page the lists the details and pricing of seven computers. I added up the price of the seven systems and divided by 7 in order to get an ASP. I followed this procedure for each of the catalogs. Here's what I came up with.

July's ASP $2,484; Aug. $2,527; Sept. $2,493; and, Oct. $2,567.

The average of these four ASP's is $2,517

The month-over-month percentage change is: July/Aug. +1.73%; Aug./Sept. -1.34%; Sept./Oct. +2.97%

The change from July to Oct is +3.34%

Given this analysis, I fail to see how Dell is suffering any ASP erosion.

Comments appreciated.
