I received my kefir start cultures from LWAY today. I have a quart sitting out fermenting now. I made this first batch with just regular whole milk. I want to see how thick it comes out. It mentions two different ways to make it thicker on the box. There are 6 one gram envelopes in a small box, each envelope makes one quart of kefir. It has the slogan " Improving Daily Life for Over 2000 Years " on the front and back. I like that slogan because there is no other product on the market that I have ever heard of that uses a slogan that goes back anywhere near that long. The oldest product I can think of is Lowenbrau beer, " Since 1383 ". On one side of the box it names 7 of the cultures in it. On the back it states some of the benefits of kefir like stimulates the digestion of foods, inhibits pathogenic microbes, possesses anti-cancer potentials, controls harmful yeast overgrowth, normalizes bowel function, helps control cholesterol levels, enhances the immune system, may benefit the lactose intolerant, promote refloristation of intestinal microflora and they produce natural antibiotic substances.
