John Koligman: I read the same article. Makes sense to me. Probably be smarter to upgrade to newer Y2K compliant machines and get the lastest technology vs. trying to upgrade existing boxes. My thinking is the more machines cpq sells next year the more servicing and support revenue will be generated. I do beg to differ on the slow down after that. Japan's economy will come back to life and will bring the rest of the Asian countries with them. For all the slowdown in Japan's spending, they really haven't scrimped on technology and I think that once their economy starts to expand so will their spending on technology. On the consumer side of things, as the pc becomes more like a vcr in that everybody has one(at least one), I think cpq will be at that dance also. Just a matter of controlling costs in order to produce a healthy margin. IMHO
