Re: HiFD Does the Sony HiFD technology have a declared upgrade path? 200MB is a non-starter. Nobody will buy that. The only way a new infrastructure technology has a chance at breaking into a market is either by serving a critical niche need or by offering at least an order of magnitude of improved performance ... neither of which, as far as I can tell, characterizes HiFD. On the other hand, if Sony and partners were planning to scale this technology to Orb-like dimensions in the near future while maintaining backward compatibility, then it MIGHT have a chance. Otherwise this is going to be Betamax, the sequel. IMHO.
